Michael Thompson started his music
career in 1968 with the Band of Her Majesty's Royal
Marines. He graduated in 1970 from the Royal Marines
School of Music and was posted to The Royal Marines
Band, HM Royal Yacht Britannia in Portsmouth, England.
During his twelve years of service he visited and played
in more than 32 countries. In 1980 Michael joined the
RAAF Central Band and in 1999 he retired from military
music to pursue a new career.
Michael Thompson was appointed as Music Director, Monash Concert
Band in March 2004.
